water heater repairHere in America, we love our hot showers! Most of us shower daily and many of us even enjoy taking advantage of bathroom acoustics and serenading ourselves with our favorite songs. One of the worst feelings to experience in the morning can be stepping into an icy shower that is supposed to be steamy. The need for water heater repair often comes at the most inopportune time and is at best, inconvenient. Here at Cool Comfort Heating & Air, we want to help you avoid water heater repairs as much as possible, so we came up with a couple of tips for you.

First and most important, one of the best ways to avoid water heater repairs is to do regular maintenance checks on your water heater. Preventing repairs before they occur is almost always less costly than waiting until something breaks. Additionally, you can actually extend the life of your water heater, lower your bills, and save time with regular maintenance checks.

Second, with regular water heater maintenance, you also need to be sure that your water heater is the correct capacity for your home. If you have a large home, you shouldn’t be using and constantly overloading a smaller water heater. When an improperly sized water heater is used in a home, it can cause problems with more than just your water bills.

Finally, make sure that the area your water heater is housed in is not also home to other storage. Boxes, bins, papers and boxes can all become tinder in the right conditions with your water heater. Your water heater should always be easily accessible not just for safety, but for easy repairs as well.
